Description
As an AI Engineer at Telstra, you will play a crucial role in designing and developing intelligent backend services and frameworks to support AI-driven applications. Your responsibilities will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to create scalable, cloud-native solutions that leverage large language models (LLMs) and contribute to the enhancement of internal AI frameworks. This position also presents opportunities for growth into broader full-stack and platform-level responsibilities. At Telstra, we offer a supportive work environment that includes access to a wide range of learning programs to help you enhance your skills. With a global presence across 22 countries, you will have opportunities to work in various locations where we operate. We also provide generous parental leave benefits, annual leave entitlements, paid sick leave, and relocation support options within India. Additionally, you will receive insurance benefits such as medical, accidental, and life insurance coverage. In your role, you will be responsible for building AI-powered backend services, contributing to the development of internal AI frameworks, and designing prompts for LLMs to ensure accurate responses. You will integrate with orchestration frameworks like LangChain and LangGraph, connect services to cloud-native AI platforms such as Azure OpenAI and AWS Bedrock, and deploy containerized or serverless microservices using AWS ECS Fargate and AWS Lambda. Collaboration with frontend engineers to support API integration into React-based user interfaces is also a key aspect of your role. You will be expected to write clean, maintainable, and testable code following internal standards, as well as participate in debugging, issue troubleshooting, documentation, code reviews, and internal knowledge sharing. To be successful in this role, you should have 3-6 years of overall experience and strong proficiency in Python for building scalable backend services. A deep understanding of prompt engineering, LLM interaction patterns, and hands-on experience with AI orchestration tools like LangChain and LangGraph are essential. Experience with containerized or serverless deployments on AWS, familiarity with Azure OpenAI and AWS Bedrock, and knowledge of Git, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines are also required. Strong problem-solving skills, the ability to work collaboratively in agile teams, and awareness of testing strategies and service virtualization techniques are important for this role. Desirable growth areas include knowledge of backend frameworks like Spring Boot (Java) and a willingness to learn and contribute to frontend development using React.js. Telstra values diversity and inclusion, and we actively seek individuals from various backgrounds and identities to enrich our team and work environment. We uphold a zero-tolerance policy for harassment and prioritize creating a safe and inclusive workplace for all employees.
