Department/Unit: Mechanical Maintenance Reporting To: Maintenance Manager - Mechanical Direct Reports: Mechanical Fitters, Welders Job Purpose/Summary: To supervise and coordinate all mechanical maintenance activities within a designated section or shift (e.g., Smelter Mechanical, Refinery Mechanical, CCR Mechanical, General Mechanical), ensuring safe and efficient execution of repairs, preventive maintenance, and installations to maintain equipment reliability. Key Responsibilities & Duties: Team Supervision: Lead, assign tasks, and supervise a team of mechanical fitters and welders. Ensure adherence to work instructions, safety procedures, and quality standards. Work Execution: Oversee the execution of mechanical repairs, overhauls, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting activities on pumps, conveyors, crushers, furnaces, cranes, and other mechanical equipment. Safety Compliance: Conduct toolbox talks, enforce safety rules, and ensure all team members use appropriate PPE and follow LOTO procedures. Report and investigate near misses/incidents. Troubleshooting: Diagnose mechanical faults, determine root causes, and guide technicians in implementing effective repairs. Resource Management: Ensure availability of tools, equipment, and spare parts for scheduled jobs. Manage work permits. Quality of Work: Inspect completed work to ensure high standards of quality and functionality. Reporting: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, downtime, and resource utilization. Provide daily shift reports to the Mechanical Manager. Training & Development: Provide on-the-job training and guidance to junior technicians. Coordination: Liaise with Operations for equipment availability and with other maintenance disciplines for integrated work. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Scheduled Work Completion Rate (%) Repair Time (MTTR) Quality of Repairs (Rework Rate) Team Productivity Safety Incidents (Mechanical Team) Adherence to Maintenance Procedures Required Qualifications: Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or ITI with significant supervisory experience. Required Experience: 8-12 years of hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance in a heavy process industry. At least 3-5 years in a supervisory role. Strong practical knowledge of pumps, gearboxes, bearings, alignment, hydraulics, and pneumatics. Required Skills: Strong mechanical troubleshooting abilities. Good leadership and communication skills. Proficiency in reading mechanical drawings and schematics. Sound knowledge of industrial safety procedures . Ability to work effectively under pressure.
