Job description

This role is based in India and as such all normal working days must be carried out in India.

Join us as a Site Reliability Engineer

  • You’ll manage the provision of stable, resilient, reliable applications with the end goal of minimising disruption to Customer & Colleague Journeys (CCJ)
  • We’ll look to you to identify and automate manual tasks and implement observability solutions, ensuring a thorough understanding of CCJ across applications
  • This is a great chance to work in a supportive environment with opportunities to advance your personal and career development
  • We're offering this role at associate vice president level

What you'll do

As a Site Reliability Engineer, you'll play a key role in maintaining the availability, resilience and operational stability of critical business services and customer journeys.

We’ll look to you to lead the operational response to high-priority incidents, driving rapid diagnosis, recovery and stakeholder communication while identifying opportunities to improve reliability, observability and automation across the estate.

Other responsibilities will include:

  • Providing operational support for business-critical applications and customer-facing services, securing high levels of availability and reliability
  • Monitoring service health, customer journeys and transaction processing, proactively identifying and addressing issues before they affect customers
  • Leading service restoration activities during major incidents and coordinating cross-functional teams to minimise business and customer impact
  • Supporting disaster recovery testing, service continuity planning and resilience activities across critical platforms and services
  • Driving operational improvements through automation and the reduction of manual intervention
  • Partnering with technology and business teams to resolve recurring issues and deliver sustainable, long-term solutions

The skills you'll need

To succeed in this role, you'll bring significant experience supporting business-critical applications within a 24x7 production environment. You’ll be comfortable acting as an escalation point during major incidents, helping teams respond effectively under pressure while maintaining clear communication and control.

You'll combine a strong engineering mindset with a passion for automation, observability and continuous improvement, helping make sure services remain resilient, scalable and performant. Working knowledge of technologies such as Python, JavaScript, Ansible and Terraform would be highly beneficial.

You’ll also need:

  • A strong understanding of incident, problem and change management practices
  • Experience using observability, monitoring and alerting platforms to maintain service health and proactively identify issues, including tools such as Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus, CloudWatch and DX-APM
  • A proven track record of driving automation, self-healing capabilities and operational efficiency, supported by strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • The ability to manage high-priority customer-impacting incidents and coordinate service restoration activities under pressure
  • Experience supporting and operating within modern cloud and application environments, including AWS, Java, Unix/Linux, Oracle, PostgreSQL, GitHub, Autosys, JIRA and ServiceNow
