Senior Script Writer

Role Overview

The Script Writer will develop creative, engaging, and emotionally resonant scripts for animated content aimed at children aged 5-12. The role involves conceptualizing adventure-driven stories aligned with core social-emotional values, and collaborating with educators, designers, and animators to bring the Peblo vision to life.

Key Responsibilities

• Write scripts for short animated sequences and episodic content that teach core values (perseverance, kindness, empathy, etc.) through compelling narratives for young audiences.
• Conceptualize story arcs, character profiles, and engaging settings that resonate emotionally with children and families.
• Develop concise loglines, synopses, and season arcs for new and existing animated series.
• Collaborate with education and design teams to ensure pedagogical alignment and visual storytelling excellence.
• Integrate feedback from multidisciplinary teams to iterate and improve scripts rapidly in line with Peblo's brand and learning goals.
• Prepare AV breakdowns for storyboarding and work closely with animators for visual clarity and effective on-screen storytelling.
• Appropriately use, document, and communicate the use of AI-based writing and brainstorming tools in the script development process.
• Meet quick turnaround deadlines while upholding high standards for creativity, accuracy, and originality.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in screenwriting, creative writing, or writing for childrens media (animation, games, TV, etc).
• Excellent storytelling and scriptwriting skills, especially for ages 5-10.
• Strong understanding of childrens media, social-emotional learning, and contemporary animation or storytelling formats.
• Ability to craft character-driven stories that naturally embed educational values.
• Familiarity with Indian culture and an ability to localize global concepts for Indian children.
• Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams (educators, animators, designers).
• Skilled at giving and receiving feedback on creative work; openness to rapid iteration.
• Proficiency (or willingness to learn) in using AI co-writing tools, with a clear ability to guide, document, and refine AI-generated content.
• Strong organization, time management, and communication skills; thrive in a fast-paced, remote-first team environment.
• Commitment to Peblos mission, values, and culture of learning, ownership, and impact.

Preferred

• Prior experience in ed-tech, children’s animation, or values-driven content.
• Prior experience in film making/screen-play development.
• Passion for creating joyful, meaningful learning experiences that ignite curiosity in children.
• Portfolio of scripts or produced work for children’s animation or edutainment series.
