Senior Rail Designer

Responsibilities

• Own project delivery from start to finish, including scoping, estimating, scheduling, risk management, and client updates.
  
• Produce detailed design deliverables: horizontal and vertical alignment, turn-outs, crossovers, yard and industry tracks, grading, drainage/culverts, crossings, profiles, plan & profile sheets, cross-sections, details, and BoQs/quantities.
  
• Ensure all designs comply with AREMA, UPRR, and BNSF industrial track standards; familiarity with FRA/state DOT guidance is a plus.
  
• Lead quality assurance and control processes, clash detection, and constructability reviews.
  
• Coordinate design efforts with survey, civil/site, structures, and construction teams.
  
• Lead client-facing design reviews, respond to RFIs, and manage design comments through project close-out.
  
• Mentor and support junior designers, review work for quality, and uphold CAD/BIM standards and naming conventions.
  

Desired Candidate Profile

Must-Have Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering.
  
• 810+ years of experience in rail/industrial track design with proven client-facing delivery.
  
• Hands-on expertise in Bentley OpenRail Designer and MicroStation; experience with ProjectWise preferred.
  
• Demonstrated experience working to UPRR/BNSF standards related to industrial track design, turn-outs, clearances, and drainage.
  
• Strong understanding of AREMA practices, alignment geometry, earthwork, and rail site civil interfaces.
  
• Ability to independently manage project schedules, budgets, and coordinate multi-disciplinary teams.
  
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly for U.S. client interactions.
  

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Familiarity with TxDOT/FRA guidelines, grade crossing design, and basic hydrology/hydraulics.
  
• Experience with AutoTURN for rail car path analysis, Civil 3D, construction support, and quantity take-offs.
  
• Previous experience mentoring designers and establishing CAD standards/templates.
  

Compensation

• Competitive CTC: 20 – 30 LPA (based on experience and qualifications)

• Location: Viman Nagar, Pune (In-office position)
  
• Candidates should be willing to relocate to Pune.
