Senior Network Reliability Engineer

Role Overview: The Network Reliability Engineering (NRE) team at Oracle is responsible for maintaining the robustness of the Oracle Cloud Network Infrastructure. As a Network Reliability Engineer (NRE), your primary focus will be on applying an engineering approach to measure and automate network reliability to meet the organization's service-level objectives. Your duties will involve promptly responding to network disruptions, identifying root causes, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to restore functionality efficiently. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in automating recurring tasks to streamline operations and enhance productivity. Given that OCI is a cloud-based network with a global presence, you will be responsible for supporting a vast number of network devices and servers across different infrastructures. Key Responsibilities: - Design, write, and deploy network monitoring and automation software to enhance the availability, scalability, and efficiency of Oracle products and services. - Work on the shared ownership of services and technology areas with the Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team. - Support the design, deployment, and operations of a large-scale global Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, with a focus on network fabric and systems. - Collaborate with program/project managers to develop milestones and deliverables. - Develop and execute network changes using existing procedures and tools while contributing to the development of new procedures. - Mentor junior engineers and participate in network solution and architecture design processes. - Provide break-fix support, lead post-event root cause analysis, and automate routine tasks through scripting. - Coordinate with networking automation services and network monitoring for support tooling development and telemetry gathering. - Act as a subject matter expert (SME) on software development projects for network automation and monitoring. - Collaborate with network vendor technical account teams and internal Quality Assurance teams for bug resolution and system qualification. Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related engineering field with 5+ years of Network Engineering experience, or Master's degree with equivalent experience. - Experience in a large ISP or cloud provider environment and in a network operations role. - Strong knowledge of protocols such as MPLS, BGP, IPv6, DNS, DHCP, SSL, VxLAN, and EVPN. - Deeper understanding of Data Center build and design, including CLoS architecture. - Proficiency in scripting or automation, preferably in Python, and experience with network monitoring and telemetry solutions. - Ability to resolve complex issues creatively, work under limited supervision, and possess excellent organizational and communication skills.
