Senior Build & Installer Developer

National Instruments/ Emerson India is looking for a skilled and motivated Senior Build & Installer Developer to be a part of the R&D team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining build and installer packages for NI products on Windows, Linux, and macOS platforms. This role plays a crucial part in the product release process to ensure efficiency and reliability. In this role, your responsibilities will include designing and developing installer packages using internal and third-party tools such as WIX. You will collaborate closely with team members across different departments to meet build, installer, and release requirements. Providing technical leadership for build and installer initiatives within NI product lines, mentoring junior team members, and offering ongoing technical guidance are also key responsibilities. Additionally, maintaining and enhancing the build and test infrastructure for NI products, contributing to internal build tools and open-source projects as necessary, and identifying automation opportunities and implementing solutions will be part of your role. The ideal candidate promotes high visibility of shared contributions to goals and is proactive in taking action in evolving situations. Seeking guidance from relevant sources for informed decision-making and managing risks associated with uncertain outcomes are qualities we are looking for. Requirements for this role include a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in software development focusing on build and installer systems. Demonstrated ability to lead technical efforts, mentor junior engineers, and excellent communication skills in English are essential. Strong experience with operating systems such as Windows, Linux, macOS, build and automation tools like Azure DevOps, Git, GNU Make, scripting and development in Python, package management systems (especially for Linux), debugging tools, and familiarity with Agile development methodologies is required. Preferred qualifications that would distinguish you include strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, experience in managing software projects using defined project management practices, the capacity to define and drive technology strategy for a team, expertise in reviewing code and designs for quality and maintainability, ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage multiple priorities. Comfort working in a distributed team environment, effective communication across time zones, meticulous attention to detail, and a methodical approach to development and testing are also valued.
