SDE - Cloud Automation

As a Software Development Engineer 1 at Astuto, you will play a crucial role in developing advanced workflows and resource schedulers to eliminate waste and optimize cloud efficiency. Your primary focus will be on driving cost savings, governance, and operational excellence across AWS estates using Infrastructure as Code, Custom Automation & Runbooks, and AWS API & SDK Integration. **Role Overview:** You will be responsible for designing, authoring, and maintaining Terraform modules and CloudFormation templates for common change management tasks. Ensuring all Infrastructure as Code (IaC) changes are idempotent and safely applied will be a key part of your role. **Key Responsibilities:** - **Infrastructure as Code:** - Design, author, and maintain Terraform modules and CloudFormation templates. - Ensure idempotent changes and safe application of IaC. - **Custom Automation & Runbooks:** - Develop Python scripts and AWS Lambda functions for resource orchestration. - Package runbooks as serverless workflows to handle nonstandard use cases. - **AWS API & SDK Integration:** - Leverage AWS SDKs to build bespoke tooling for querying and manipulating AWS services. - Implement error handling, retry logic, logging, and notifications for all automated operations. **Qualifications Required:** - 3+ years of AWS experience with hands-on expertise in at least two of EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, Lambda, Step Functions, CloudWatch, CloudTrail. - Proven track record writing Terraform modules and/or CloudFormation stacks for production workloads. - Strong Python scripting skills and familiarity with boto3/AWS CLI for automating AWS API calls. - Experience in designing and operating AWS Lambda functions and Step Functions workflows. - Deep understanding of AWS resource lifecycles, tagging strategies, cost drivers, and common waste patterns. - Proficiency in source control workflows, code reviews, and automated testing. - Excellent communication skills and a commitment to documenting every change.
