1. Administrative Duties Maintain proper records of hostel residents, including admission, attendance, and leave registers. Ensure allocation and management of rooms, keeping hygiene and discipline in mind. Monitor hostel inventory , including furniture, bedding, and electrical appliances. Coordinate with the administration for maintenance and repair of hostel facilities. 2. Discipline and Supervision Enforce hostel rules and regulations to maintain order and discipline. Supervise students behavior, punctuality, and conduct within hostel premises. Prevent and address incidents of bullying, ragging, or harassment , ensuring a safe environment. Ensure students follow timings for study hours, meals, and lights-out schedules. 3. Safety and Security Ensure safety of students by monitoring entry and exit points. Keep a visitor log and verify permissions for visitors. Conduct regular inspections of rooms for cleanliness, safety hazards, or prohibited items. Coordinate with security personnel in case of emergencies. 4. Student Welfare and Support Act as a mentor and guide , helping students adjust to hostel life. Address grievances and mediate conflicts among residents. Monitor students’ health and well-being , arranging medical support when required. Inform parents/guardians promptly in case of illness, emergency, or disciplinary issues. 5. Coordination and Communication Maintain regular communication with: School/College authorities for administrative updates. Parents or guardians for updates on student performance or issues. Organize meetings and feedback sessions with students to improve hostel life. 6. Emergency Management Be prepared for fire drills, natural disasters, or health emergencies . Maintain a list of emergency contacts and ensure students are familiar with safety protocols. Take immediate action and report serious incidents to the management promptly. 7. Event and Activity Management Organize cultural, sports, and recreational activities to create a positive hostel environment. Encourage participation in community service or personality development programs. 8. Reporting and Documentation Submit regular reports to management on hostel operations, student behavior, and any incidents. Maintain confidential records of disciplinary actions or counseling sessions. Key Skills Required Strong leadership and management skills. Excellent communication and conflict-resolution abilities. Empathy, patience, and a sense of responsibility. Knowledge of safety, first aid, and emergency handling procedures.
