The PYP Coordinator at Sancta Maria International School ( located in GMR Aerocity, Hyderabad, India ) will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of the Primary Years Programme (PYP) curriculum, ensuring its alignment with the International Baccalaureate (IB) standards, and promoting a culture of inquiry-based and concept-driven learning. The PYP Coordinator will work closely with teachers to support and guide the delivery of a rigorous and engaging educational experience while promoting the principles of international-mindedness and the development of the IB Learner Profile. Key Responsibilities: 1. Curriculum Development and Implementation Lead the development, review, and implementation of the PYP curriculum, ensuring alignment with IB standards and guidelines. Collaborate with teachers to ensure the curriculum is inquiry-based, concept-driven, and reflects the global context of the IB framework. Regularly assess the effectiveness of the curriculum and adapt based on evolving educational needs. 2. Teacher Training and Support Provide ongoing professional development and training for teachers on inquiry-based pedagogies, the IB framework, and best PYP practices. Develop a collaborative environment where teachers share ideas and resources to enhance student learning experiences. Support teachers in planning and delivering units of inquiry, ensuring they have the necessary resources to meet the diverse needs of their students. 3. Liaison with IB Organisation Act as the primary point of contact between Sancta Maria International School and the International Baccalaureate (IB) organisation for the School’s PYP. Ensure that all IB programme requirements are met, including the timely submission of documentation and reports. Coordinate the preparation for and participation in IB evaluations, ensuring the school is well-prepared for IB authorisation and evaluation visits. 4. Promoting International-Mindedness and IB Learner Profile Create and nurture a positive learning environment that supports the development of the IB Learner Profile attributes at the PYP level. Encourage and model international mindedness in all aspects of school life, both within the PYP curriculum and in extracurricular activities. Promoting an inclusive and respectful atmosphere that celebrates diversity, promotes intercultural understanding, and engages students in global issues. 5. Programme Leadership, Strategic Planning and Collaboration Provide leadership in the continuous development and evaluation of the PYP in alignment with the school’s values, vision, mission, and strategic goals.
