Job Overview: Commis I is responsible for handling more advanced kitchen tasks, assisting in food preparation, and ensuring the smooth operation of their assigned section. The Commis I works closely with the Chef de Partie and other kitchen staff to maintain high food quality and hygiene standards. Prepare ingredients and cook dishes according to the chef's instructions. Assist the Chef de Partie in managing the kitchen station efficiently. Follow recipes and standard operating procedures to ensure consistency in food quality. Monitor food stock levels and assist with inventory management. Maintain a clean and organized workstation, ensuring hygiene and safety protocols are followed. Train and mentor junior kitchen staff, including Commis II and III. Ensure that food is stored properly and minimize waste. Assist in plating and presentation of dishes as per restaurant standards. Work in coordination with other kitchen staff to ensure timely service. Adhere to all food safety regulations and kitchen guidelines. Skills & Qualifications: Strong knowledge of basic and intermediate cooking techniques. Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure. Excellent knife skills and understanding of kitchen equipment. Good organizational and teamwork skills. Attention to detail and a passion for cooking. Education & Experience Diploma or certification in Culinary Arts (preferred). Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a professional kitchen. Prior experience as a Commis II or equivalent roll in a fast-paced kitchen environment with exposure to heat, steam, and cooking equipment.
