Lead Software Engineer — Path to Founding Head of Eng / Tech Co-Founder Type: Contract-to-hire Comp: Equity-first (modest cash available) Location: Remote We’re RecruitPilot. MVP is done. Now we need someone to take it enterprise-grade : org-level UX + SSO/RBAC/audit + observability + make our reliability soo boring. What you’ll own (First 90-days) Lead the frontend: performance (virtualisation, code-split), accessibility, background-job center & real-time UX. Ship SSO (SAML/OIDC) , RBAC , and audit trails end-to-end. Build org admin & analytics (usage dashboards, exports). Make releases safe: canary/rollback , safe migrations , feature flags . Wire observability (SLIs/SLOs, traces, synthetic checks) and run backups/PITR + DR drill . Must-haves 5+ yrs React/Next.js + TypeScript in production. Built multi-tenant SaaS with SSO/RBAC and audit logging . CI/CD with zero-downtime deploys; safe DB migrations ; on-call/incident scars. Real-time UX (WebSockets/SSE/polling) and background-job progress UIs. Practical observability (metrics/logs/traces) and security hygiene (JWT, least-privilege, PII-safe logging). Nice to have EVERYTHING ELSE... but specifically SCIM / WorkOS/Auth0, queues & DLQs, Postgres chops, vector/RAG tenancy. Our stack Frontend: Next.js, React, TS, Redux Toolkit/Zustand, Axios, Socket.IO. Backend/Infra: FastAPI (Python), Postgres, AWS ECS/ECR/ALB, Docker, GitHub Actions, CloudWatch. AI: OpenAI, LangChain/LangGraph; and others Storage/Search: Azure Blob, Azure Cognitive Search. Why this role Immediate ownership, clear path to Founding Head of Engineering / Technical Co-Founder if you deliver the 90-day outcomes. Would suit someone in a senior role who is looking for a hands-dirty start-up role to compliment their current job security. We can't consider anyone working for businesses that would impose restrictive covenants for simultaneous working. Definitely NOT for someone who is looking to own small individual parts of an application or working with a large team.
