Recreational Therapist

As a Recreational Therapist at Signet Health managing the Behavioral Health Services for MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center, you will play a crucial role in designing and implementing activity therapies to meet individualized needs. Reporting to the Director of Intake and Assessment, you will work full-time hours from Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Alternatively, the per diem position offers flexible evening and weekend hours. Your responsibilities will include fostering effective interactions, enhancing coping skills, cognitive functioning, reality orientation, and promoting independence in self-care. Participation in interdisciplinary treatment planning, agency-wide training programs, and ensuring programming schedules are followed are essential aspects of this role. Additionally, maintaining quality and timely clinical documentation as per Joint Commission and regulatory requirements is a key responsibility. To qualify for this position, you must hold a Bachelor's degree and an active Maryland Recreation Therapy license. A minimum of two years of experience in a mental health care setting is mandatory, demonstrating a deep understanding of patient needs. Proficiency in leading group therapy sessions, effective communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are essential requirements. American Heart Association BLS certification or completion of CPR/BLS certification within 30 days of hire is necessary. The salary range for this position is $60,320 to $66,560 annually.
