Recreational Therapist (CTRS)

As a Recreational Therapist at Signet Health managing the Behavioral Health Services for MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center, you will play a crucial role in designing and implementing activity therapies tailored to individual needs. Your primary focus will be on fostering effective interactions, enhancing coping skills, cognitive functioning, reality orientation, and promoting independence in self-care. Working closely with the Director of Intake and Assessment, you will be responsible for participating in interdisciplinary treatment planning as needed. Your duties will include leading group therapy sessions, ensuring programming schedules are adhered to, and maintaining quality clinical documentation in compliance with regulatory requirements. To excel in this role, you must hold a Bachelor's degree and an active Maryland Recreation Therapy license. A minimum of two years of experience in a mental health care setting is required, demonstrating a profound understanding of patient needs. Proficiency in interpersonal communication, group facilitation, and teamwork are essential. Additionally, you should be prepared to obtain American Heart Association BLS certification within the first 30 days of hire. Your adaptability to a fast-paced environment, problem-solving skills, and effective communication abilities will be key to success in this role. Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs is expected to support your daily tasks. This position offers a competitive salary ranging from $60,320 to $66,560 annually, along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes generous PTO. Both full-time and PRN positions are available, with work hours varying based on the role.
