Job Overview : We are seeking a a highly skilled Embedded Systems Engineer with expertise in both hardware and software development to design, develop, and integrate critical components for our Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) systems. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the reliable and efficient operation of our drones by developing embedded systems that control flight dynamics, avionics, sensor data acquisition, communication protocols, and other critical functions. Key Responsibilities : - Architect and design printed circuit boards (PCB) and custom hardware circuits for UAV systems, including microcontrollers, sensors (IMU, GPS, LiDAR, etc.), power management units, and communication interfaces. - Designing/Improvement of new and existing architectures of distributed computing with subcomponents of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS). - Select appropriate components based on performance, power consumption, and cost constraints. - Develop schematics and PCB layouts using EDA tools. - Conduct hardware prototyping, simulating, testing, and debugging. - Develop embedded software applications for real-time control of UAV systems, including flight control algorithms, sensor fusion, navigation routines, and communication protocols. - Write clean, well-documented code with focus on reliability and safety-critical considerations. - Implement robust error handling and fault tolerance mechanisms. - Integrate hardware and software components into a cohesive UAV system, ensuring seamless communication between different modules. - Develop test procedures and conduct comprehensive system-level testing in various environments. - Troubleshoot hardware and software issues during system integration and field testing. - Collaborate with system engineers to translate high-level requirements into detailed hardware and software specifications. - Proactively & closely working with mechanical design engineers to deliver tightly packaged PCB designs - Establishing agency expertise and best practices to share with/elevate other layout designs in high voltage/RF layouts, EMI mitigation, and thermal management optimization - Documentation of all the design, development and testing activities - Design and implementation of communication protocols between different subcomponents of UAS for distributed computing. - Writing Applications and Drivers from the scratch for (embedded) linux or windows-based systems. - Scripting and automations around workflows of UAS usage. Key Skills and Competencies : - Strong proficiency in embedded systems design principles, methodologies, full embedded system development life cycle. - Knowledge about microcontroller, microprocessor, STM32, ARM Cortex-M, Arduino, Raspberry Pi etc. - Strong programming skills in Embedded C/C++, python etc. - Technical Skills in requirements definition, designing, code, testing and debugging Adequate knowledge of reading schematics, datasheets, technical documents for components - Knowledge of Linux, RTOS (real-time operating systems). - Familiarity with hardware design tools (e.g., Altium Designer, OrCAD) and PCB layout techniques. - Knowledge of different hardware communication protocols (UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, USB, PWM etc.) - Understanding of sensor fusion techniques (IMU, GPS, LiDAR, etc.). - Having good knowledge of PCB types, design and fabrication process at prototype level and mass production level - Having knowledge of design for EMI / EMC considerations and compliances, manufacturability and testability - Understanding of data filtering techniques (e.g., Kalman filter) and bootloaders.
