Job Title: School Head, Primary School Location : Thane Job Overview: The School Head, Primary school is responsible for the overall functioning of the primary school. This includes supervising the academic program and ensuring strong student outcomes by working with the Instructional coach and teachers. The Head is also in charge of ensuring that the focus areas, various events that are conducted through the year and the activities conducted by the co-curricular departments contribute to the holistic development of the students. Main Roles & Responsibilities: 1. Strategy, Goal setting & Implementation: Co-develops yearly priorities and converts them into section-level strategies with clear milestones and monitoring. Leads and reviews implementation for their section, making course corrections and aligning with the Instructional Coach. Works with co-curricular teachers to set and execute goals for their domains. 2. Teacher Training: Creates whole-school trainings with the Instructional Coach for induction, BOY, and EOY. Supports the IC in designing instructional and subject-specific trainings based on school and grade needs. Monitors implementation of training learnings and develops any section-specific non-academic trainings as required. 3. Curriculum and Instructional Resources: Reviews and scaffolds curricula across grades with the Instructional Coach to ensure alignment with standards, board requirements, and school needs. Monitors curriculum implementation through weekly plan checks, notebook reviews, and periodic audits with the IC to identify trends and make adjustments. Analyses student engagement and achievement data with the IC to drive curriculum improvements. 4. Teacher development: Conducts regular classroom observations and learning walks (including co-curricular and P&S staff) and shares feedback to support teacher growth. Facilitates appraisal discussions for all reporting teachers, involving the IC and DE where needed. Identifies teachers needing support in behaviour management and classroom culture, and provides targeted upskilling. 5. Assessments and Analysis: Reviews all FA and SA papers to ensure consistent assessment standards and oversees timely score updates on SharePoint and MIS. Analyses FA & SA data with the IC and teachers to identify strengths, gaps, and clear next steps. Monitors implementation of next steps and manages operational requirements for SA administration as needed. 6. School Culture: Builds a positive, values-driven culture by role-modelling staff culture, guiding teachers on student values, and managing student-related escalations. Oversees teacher expectations around core work, professionalism, work ethic, and leave, ensuring alignment with school norms. 7. Other Important tasks: Oversees key operations such as board exams, student selection, timetabling, reports, and cross-team meetings. Supports teachers and students by managing attendance, approving requests, guiding parent communication, and facilitating teacher selection. Manages section resources and budgeting while contributing to school systems, structures, and additional tasks assigned by the Head of Academics. Qualifications / Requirements: Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Education; leadership certification preferred. Experience teaching primary students and supporting/mentoring teachers. Key Responsibilities Student Counselling: Provide individual and group counselling to address personal, social, emotional, and behavioural challenges that may affect academic performance and well-being. Academic Support: Assist students in setting academic goals, developing study skills, and addressing academic challenges. Collaborate with teachers and parents to ensure student success. Crisis Intervention: Respond to crises such as bereavement, trauma, or behavioural challenges with immediate support, involving school leadership, parents, and external agencies when needed.
