Quality Executive

Role & responsibilities

• Quality Inspection:

  Conduct incoming, in-process, and final inspections of raw materials, outsourced components, sheet metal parts, fabricated products, and finished goods.

• First Piece Approval (FPA):

  Perform first-piece inspections and routine production checks against approved drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and SOPs.

• Dimensional Inspection:

  Measure thickness, length, width, hole diameter and pitch, bend angles, profiles, flatness, straightness, and other applicable parameters.

• Measuring Instruments:

  Use Vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, welding gauges, DFT meters, and other relevant inspection instruments.

• Welding Quality:

  Inspect weld size, profile, and workmanship; identify cracks, porosity, undercut, lack of fusion, and other welding defects.

• Surface Coating Inspection:

  Inspect powder coating, electroplating, and hot-dip galvanizing for coating thickness, surface finish, coverage, and common defects.

• Material Verification:

  Verify material grades, specifications, identification, and Mill Test Certificates (MTCs); assist with material and mechanical testing.

• Standards & Drawings:

  Interpret engineering drawings, dimensional tolerances, applicable IS codes, material specifications, and acceptance criteria.

• NDT & Testing:

  Understand basic Dye Penetrant Testing (DPT) and Magnetic Particle Testing (MPT); assist with testing and defect identification as required.

• Non-Conformance Management:

  Identify, segregate, record, and report non-conforming materials/products; coordinate corrective and preventive actions with Production and other departments.

• Vendor Quality:

  Support supplier inspections, outsourced material verification, vendor quality assessments, and resolution of quality issues.

• Documentation & Traceability:

  Maintain inspection reports, FPA reports, test records, calibration status checks, material traceability, and quality documentation.

• Process Improvement:

  Identify recurring defects, support root-cause analysis, and recommend actions to improve product quality and reduce rejection and rework.

Qualification & Experience

• Diploma / BE / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or a relevant technical discipline.
• 2- 3 years of experience in Quality Assurance / Quality Control in manufacturing, sheet metal, fabrication, or engineering industries.
• Practical experience in dimensional inspection, welding inspection, and surface coating quality checks.
• Basic knowledge of metallurgy, material properties, Strength of Materials (SOM), material grades, and mechanical testing.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, interpret tolerances, and understand applicable IS standards.
• Working knowledge of inspection documentation, calibration verification, and quality procedures.
