Job Description

As a Project Engineer - Mechanical Design at Epiroc, you will be responsible for designing mechanical layouts for electrical panels, creating detailed 2D drawings and 3D CAD models, and ensuring compliance with relevant standards. You will collaborate with electrical engineers to optimize space, select appropriate materials and hardware, and design airflow planning to prevent overheating. Your role will also involve preparing and maintaining Bill of Materials (BOMs), providing support during prototype builds, and participating in design reviews. **Key Responsibilities:** - Design mechanical layouts for electrical panels, including mounting arrangements, enclosure sizing, and thermal management. - Create detailed 2D drawings and 3D CAD models. - Ensure designs comply with relevant standards (e.g., AS/NSZ, IEC, NEMA, NFPA). - Collaborate with electrical engineers to optimize space and ensure proper component placement and wiring paths. - Select appropriate materials and hardware for enclosures, mounting, and environmental protection. - Design airflow planning to prevent overheating and ensure long-term reliability. - Prepare and maintain Bill of Materials (BOMs), mechanical drawings, and manufacturing documentation. - Provide support to production and fabrication teams during prototype builds and manufacturing. - Participate in design reviews and support continuous improvement initiatives. - Skid based electrical system concept design and detailing, working with FEA team for structural stability study. **Qualification Required:** - Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in mechanical design related to electrical panels or enclosures. - Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. - Proficiency in Creo software and experience in PLM tools like Teamcenter. - Knowledge of GD&T principles, tolerance stack-up analysis, industry standards, and codes. - Proficient in design calculations, sheet metal, welding processes, wire routing, and harness design. - Exposure to design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) principles. - Experience working in an ISO-certified environment.
