PRINCIPAL, SOFTWARE ENGINEER - MACHINE LEARNING

As a Principal Software Engineer at People.AI, your primary role will involve leading the development of innovative ML systems on an enterprise scale. You will be responsible for implementing cutting-edge Generative AI technologies and collaborating with a diverse team to shape the technical direction of products and systems. Your key responsibilities will include: - Working in an Agile environment as part of a scrum team - Designing end-to-end system architecture for data-intensive applications - Developing and deploying production-grade real-time/batch machine learning services - Collaborating with applied researchers and data scientists to improve ML models and refine MLOps practice - Supporting production operations by participating in on-call rotations - Leveraging state-of-the-art LLMs and frameworks like LangChain, LangGraph to create dynamic, natural language interfaces over enterprise data - Implementing retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines using vector databases such as Milvus or FAISS - Enhancing the clarity, conciseness, and readability of generated knowledge Q&A - Building developer-friendly tools and reusable frameworks for ML and LLM systems - Acting as a platform enabler and technical collaborator for model deployment, monitoring, and lifecycle management You should possess 13+ years of experience in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable, secure, and user-centric products and platforms. Expert-level proficiency in programming languages such as Python or Java is required, along with a strong track record in delivering high-performance, production-grade code for machine learning applications. Additionally, you should have experience in designing, developing, and operationalizing end-to-end ML systems, including data ingestion, feature engineering, model training, deployment, and monitoring. Furthermore, you should have a solid understanding of core machine learning principles, Linux-based development environments, containerization using Docker, orchestration with Kubernetes, cloud platforms like Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or Microsoft Azure, and modern data engineering practices. Proficiency in building and scaling API-based services, managing workflows using tools like Apache Airflow, version control with Git, and collaboration within agile, cross-functional software teams is essential. Clear and confident communication skills, along with a mindset grounded in intellectual curiosity and a passion for MLOps and cloud-native technologies, are also key requirements.
