You believe that real value is powered by the unique skills and experiences of professionals like yourself. The interchange of ideas from a diverse group of people gives our teams an expanded perspective and the ability to find better solutions for our clients. As a Piping Checker - MTO at Black and Veatch, you will function in a senior level engineering technician capacity. With minimal supervision, you will perform advanced functions requiring knowledge and use of electronic applications, standards, and document control processes/procedures in support of creating and modifying deliverables. You may also provide technical guidance and direction to other engineering professionals, including delegation of work assignments. Your key responsibilities will include applying knowledge of standards, systems, document control, departmental guides, applicable codes, and Black and Veatch policies and procedures. You will proactively apply knowledge of the Black and Veatch Quality Program relative to deliverables, demonstrate personal accuracy, support continuous improvement and change management efforts, review design inputs for consistency, and ensure deliverables are in compliance with specific codes and standards suitable for the project. You will broaden the use of applications to continuously evaluate and improve methods, processes, and procedures used to accomplish deliverables. This will involve creating and developing deliverables based on a variety of design inputs, performing computations such as development of detailed material quantities and estimates, coordinating deliverables with other groups involved on the same project to minimize interference or errors, and supporting field activities. Furthermore, you will focus on the needs of internal clients while gaining an understanding of external client's main interests and drivers. You will proactively seek and share knowledge of the latest technologies and processes, apply judgment and make decisions with respect to deliverables and input interpretation, and may provide work direction and guidance to others. Preferred qualifications for this role include a Diploma or Certificate, an Associate Degree in Drafting or an Engineering Design Related Technology, and typically a minimum of 3 years of related work experience. You should possess technical skills such as the ability to use Computer Automated Drafting Design (CADD), information modeling, or other applications, intermediate knowledge of engineering standards, systems, document control, departmental guides, and Black and Veatch policies and procedures, as well as basic knowledge of construction and constructability practices and principles. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements, which may include criminal/civil background checks, drug screens, and motor vehicle records searches, in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. By valuing diverse voices and perspectives, Black and Veatch cultivates an authentically inclusive environment for professionals, enabling the provision of innovative and effective solutions for clients.,
