Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teaching and Instruction:
  • Lecturing: Deliver lectures on pharmacology, covering topics such as pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, drug interactions, therapeutic drug monitoring, and the clinical use of medications.
  • Course Development: Assist in the development, review, and updating of the pharmacology curriculum, ensuring alignment with current scientific advancements and medical practices.
  • Practical Sessions: Conduct laboratory and practical sessions to demonstrate drug mechanisms, effects, and interactions. Supervise students in learning the experimental methods used to study drug effects.
  • Student Assessment: Create and grade written exams, quizzes, lab reports, and assignments. Provide constructive feedback to students on their academic performance and understanding of pharmacological concepts.
  • Guidance and Mentorship: Provide academic guidance to students, answering questions related to course material and helping them understand complex pharmacological concepts.
  • Research:
  • Conduct Research: Undertake independent and collaborative research in pharmacology, focusing on areas like drug development, drug safety, clinical pharmacology, and therapeutic interventions.
  • Research Collaboration: Work with other departments or institutions on research projects that explore new drug therapies, pharmacokinetic modeling, drug delivery systems, or pharmacogenomics.
  • Research Supervision: Supervise student research projects and theses related to pharmacology, helping them design experiments, analyze data, and prepare research papers.
  • Publish Research: Regularly publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals, present at academic conferences, and contribute to advancing the field of pharmacology.
  • Clinical and Laboratory Supervision:
  • Lab Management: Manage pharmacology laboratories, ensuring that equipment is maintained, and safety protocols are followed. Guide students through experiments and demonstrations related to drug testing and analysis.
  • Hands-on Training: Supervise students in clinical pharmacology practices, where they can learn about the practical application of drugs in real clinical settings.
  • Clinical Case Studies: If applicable, use clinical case studies to help students apply pharmacological principles to real-world scenarios, especially related to medication prescribing, therapeutic effects, and drug interactions.
  • Administrative and Departmental Duties:
  • Department Meetings: Participate in departmental meetings to discuss teaching methodologies, curriculum updates, and student progress.
  • Accreditation and Compliance: Ensure that the pharmacology program meets the necessary academic and regulatory standards required for accreditation.
  • Student Counseling: Advise students on academic matters, career paths in pharmacology or pharmaceutical sciences, and research opportunities.
  • Professional Development:
  • Stay Updated: Continuously stay informed about the latest research, pharmaceutical developments, and advancements in pharmacological treatments and therapies.
  • Attend Conferences: Attend academic conferences, workshops, and seminars to enhance professional knowledge and network with other experts in the field of pharmacology.
  • Teaching Enhancement: Regularly assess and improve teaching methods, including incorporating the use of technology in the classroom and practical sessions (e.g., simulation software, virtual pharmacology labs).
  • Community and Industry Outreach (Optional):
  • Public Awareness: Participate in community outreach programs and seminars to educate the public on drug safety, proper medication use, and the importance of pharmacology in healthcare.
  • Collaborate with Industry: Work with pharmaceutical companies, healthcare providers, or government agencies to stay abreast of the latest pharmaceutical trends and contribute to drug policy development.

Qualifications:

  • Educational Qualifications:
  • Master's degree (M.Sc.) in Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field.
  • Ph.D. in Pharmacology or a related field is highly desirable, especially for research-focused positions.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹45,945.51 per month
