To ensure the safe, accurate, and efficient dispensing of medications to inpatients, outpatients, and occupational health clients. The pharmacist is responsible for maintaining inventory, complying with statutory regulations, supporting clinical care, and ensuring high standards of pharmaceutical service delivery Key Responsibilities:
1. Medication Dispensing & Counseling: • Dispense medications accurately as per doctors prescriptions. • Counsel patients on dosage, side effects, storage, and adherence, especially for chronic conditions and post-discharge care. • Dispense medications for occupational health clients (e.g., post-medical checkups, vaccination drives).
2. Drug Inventory & Storage Management: • Maintain optimal stock levels; monitor expiry dates, storage conditions (e.g., cold chain for vaccines), and controlled drug logs. • Place timely orders and coordinate with vendors to prevent stockouts or overstocking. • Safely dispose of expired or damaged medications.
3. Compliance & Documentation: • Maintain records of narcotics, psychotropic drugs, and Schedule H/H1 drugs in compliance with Drugs and Cosmetics Act. • Ensure proper billing and documentation for all transactions. • Prepare reports for audits, regulatory inspections, and hospital accreditation.
4. Support to Clinical Staff: • Assist doctors and nurses with drug information and interactions. • Participate in medication reconciliation, especially during patient admission and discharge. • Ensure availability of emergency and crash cart medications.
5. Occupational Health Services: • Coordinate with occupational health teams to dispense medication post health screenings or pre-placement checks. • Maintain vaccine inventory for occupational health clients (e.g., Hepatitis B, Tetanus, Influenza). • Support mobile health units and on-site health camps organized for corporate clients.
6. Quality Assurance & Patient Safety: • Participate in quality initiatives such as prescription audits, ADR (Adverse Drug Reaction) monitoring, and rational drug use. • Educate patients and staff on high-alert medications and safe medication practices
