A Patient Care Assistant (PCA) provides direct, basic care to patients in healthcare settings under the supervision of nurses, assisting with personal needs like hygiene, feeding, and mobility, monitoring vital signs, maintaining a clean environment, and providing emotional support. Key duties include bathing, grooming, and feeding, taking and recording vital signs, assisting with physical therapy, and ensuring patient safety and comfort. PCAs must be empathetic, attentive, and responsive to patient needs, effectively communicating with patients and the healthcare team.
