Core responsibilities

• Diagnosis and treatment:

  Perform a variety of surgeries, including joint replacements, fracture repairs, and procedures to fix torn ligaments and tendons.

• Non-surgical treatment:

  Implement non-surgical treatments such as casting, splinting, joint injections, and prescribing medication for pain and recovery.

• Patient care and rehabilitation:

  Develop comprehensive treatment plans, which often include arranging physical therapy and rehabilitation programs.

• Documentation and record-keeping:

  Maintain detailed and accurate patient records of histories, diagnoses, and treatments.

• Collaboration:

  Work with other medical professionals like physical therapists, nurses, and other specialists to ensure comprehensive patient care.

• Emergency care:

  Respond to trauma and emergency orthopedic cases, often requiring on-call availability and flexibility for shift work.

Required qualifications and skills

• Education:

  A medical degree (MD or DO) followed by a residency and potentially a fellowship in orthopedic surgery.

• Licensing:
