Oracle Enterprise Scheduler (OESS) Specialist

Role Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Oracle Enterprise Scheduler (OESS) Specialist to join our Middleware team. The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise in configuring, developing, and administering Oracle Enterprise Scheduler within the Oracle Fusion Middleware stack. You will be responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of enterprise job scheduling, from defining job metadata to performance tuning and troubleshooting complex integration scenarios.

Key Responsibilities:

Development & Configuration:

• Metadata Management: Design and create OESS metadata objects including Job Definitions, Job Sets, Work Assignments, Workshifts, and Schedules.
• Job Development: Develop custom job logic using Java, PL/SQL, and SOA/BPEL composites to be executed by OESS.
• Integration: Integrate OESS with Oracle SOA Suite, Oracle Service Bus (OSB), and external Web Services. Implement callbacks and asynchronous job handling.
• Incompatibility Handling: Define and manage global and domain-specific incompatibility logic to ensure resource optimization and data integrity.

Administration & Operations:

• Environment Management: Manage OESS clusters within WebLogic Server. Configure Request Processors and Request Dispatchers.
• Monitoring & Maintenance: Monitor job execution health, handle stuck jobs, and manage the request lifecycle.
• Purging Strategies: Implement and maintain automated purging policies for OESS runtime data to ensure database performance.
• Security: Configure OESS security, including application roles, policies, and permission grants in OWSM/OPSS.
• Performance Tuning: Analyze thread pools, data sources, and database indexes to optimize scheduler throughput.

Support & Troubleshooting:

• Analyze server logs (diagnostic logs, incident logs) to troubleshoot failed or pending requests.
• Collaborate with DBAs and Infrastructure teams to resolve connectivity or resource contention issues.
• Provide L3 support for production batch processing and scheduling incidents.

Required Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Experience: Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience with Oracle Fusion Middleware and specifically Oracle Enterprise Scheduler (OESS).

Technical Skills:

• Strong knowledge of Oracle Enterprise Scheduler (12c/11g) architecture and components.
• Proficiency in Java/J2EE and PL/SQL for job implementation.
• Experience with Oracle WebLogic Server administration (WLST scripting is a plus).
• Working knowledge of Oracle SOA Suite (BPEL) and how it interacts with ESS.
• Understanding of MDS (Metadata Services) repositories.
• Proficiency with Oracle Database and SQL tuning.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) for monitoring.
• Knowledge of Oracle Fusion Applications (ERP/HCM) scheduling processes.
• Experience migrating scheduling logic from legacy systems (e.g., Autosys, Cron) to OESS.
• Understanding of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) or SOA Cloud Service (SOACS).
• Oracle Middleware certifications.
