Key Responsibilities: Assist in assembling products or components on the production line. Ensure that all parts and tools are correctly set up for the production process. Job Title: Procurement & Sourcing Engineer (EV Component Manufacturing) Department: Supply Chain / Strategic Sourcing Reports To: Managing Director Location: Bommasandra, Bengaluru Job Overview The Procurement & Sourcing Engineer is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and managing suppliers for key components in electric vehicle manufacturing—such as battery systems, power electronics, wiring harnesses, charging components, body structures, and mechanical systems. This role ensures cost-effective procurement, supplier quality, and on-time material availability while supporting engineering, production, and quality teams. Key Responsibilities Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management • Identify, evaluate, and qualify suppliers for EV components and raw materials (casings, gears, shafts, electronic components, connectors, PCBs, plastics, metals, etc.). • Conduct RFQs/RFPs, negotiate pricing, lead time, payment terms, and long-term agreements. • Develop supplier scorecards and monitor KPIs: quality, cost, delivery, sustainability, and risk. • Manage localization initiatives to reduce cost and supply chain risk. • Maintain strong supplier relationships and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Cost Engineering & Optimization • Perform cost breakdown analysis, should-cost modeling, and cost benchmarking for the parts. • Identify cost-reduction opportunities through design optimization, alternative materials, or process improvements. • Support engineering change management and BOM updates. Cross-Functional Collaboration • Work closely with engineering, R&D, production, and quality teams during new product development (NPD/NPI). • Ensure supplier capability aligns with design requirements and manufacturing readiness. • Collaborate with quality teams for PPAP/APQP, supplier audits, and corrective actions. Procurement Execution • Manage purchase orders, contract compliance, and delivery schedules. • Ensure timely availability of critical components for prototype builds, pilot runs, and mass production. • Resolve supply disruptions, shortages, and logistics issues. Risk Management & Compliance • Conduct supply chain risk assessments (technical, financial, geopolitical). • Ensure compliance with EV industry standards, sustainability regulations, and environmental requirements (e.g., REACH, RoHS, ISO standards). • Support supplier ESG and responsible sourcing initiatives. Required Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, or Industrial Engineering (or related field). • 2–6 years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, or supply chain within EV, automotive, electronics, or manufacturing industries. • Strong understanding of EV components, manufacturing processes, and BOM structures. • Experience with sourcing electronics, powertrain components, plastics, housing parts. • Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and MS Excel. • Strong negotiation, communication, and analytical skills. Preferred Qualifications • Experience in EV industry or tier-1 automotive sourcing. • Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, and IATF 16949 processes. • Understanding of cost-engineering and supplier quality tools. • Exposure to global sourcing and supplier development.
