Nesting Engineer for Plasma cutting

As a Plasma Cutting - Nesting and Planning, you will be responsible for optimizing the production process of plasma-cut metal parts. Your main tasks will involve efficiently designing cutting patterns (nesting) and planning material usage on a CNC plasma cutting machine. Your goal will be to maximize material utilization, minimize waste, and ensure the timely delivery of high-quality components while adhering to production schedules and quality standards. Key Responsibilities: - Nesting Optimization: - Utilize CAD software to create efficient nesting patterns for plasma cutting, minimizing material waste by strategically arranging part layouts on the sheet metal stock. - Analyze part geometry and material constraints to optimize nesting algorithms for maximum material utilization. - Adjust nesting parameters based on cutting tolerances and material properties. - Production Planning: - Develop production schedules and cutting sequences to meet delivery deadlines and production targets. - Manage material inventory and ensure adequate stock levels of sheet metal for plasma cutting operations. - Coordinate with other departments like design, quality control, and warehouse to ensure a smooth production flow. - Plasma Cutting Machine Operation: - Set up and operate CNC plasma cutting machines according to established parameters and cutting specifications. - Monitor cutting quality, identify and address potential issues like kerf width, edge quality, and heat-affected zone. - Perform routine maintenance and calibration checks on the plasma cutting machine. - Quality Control: - Implement quality control procedures to ensure cut parts meet dimensional tolerances and specifications. - Inspect finished parts for defects and initiate corrective actions when necessary. - Analyze quality data to identify trends and implement process improvements. - Technical Expertise: - Stay updated on the latest advancements in plasma cutting technology, nesting software, and material selection. - Proficient in CAD software and CNC programming for plasma cutting machines. - Understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes and material properties. Required Skills: - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to optimize nesting patterns and production processes. - Excellent attention to detail for quality control and accurate cutting. - Proficient in CAD software and CNC programming for plasma cutting machines. - Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications. - Understanding of manufacturing principles and lean production methodologies.
