Role & responsibilities Store Operations Management** - Manage daily store operations including opening/closing procedures, cash handling, and security protocols - Oversee inventory management, including procurement, stock control, and merchandise display - Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and visual merchandising standards - Implement and monitor sales processes, pricing strategies, and promotional campaigns - Ensure compliance with institute policies and retail industry regulations **Customer Service Excellence** - Provide exceptional service to students, faculty, alumni, visitors, and corporate guests - Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and special requests professionally - Develop relationships with key stakeholders including student committees and alumni relations - Coordinate with institute events team for special occasions and promotional opportunities **Team Leadership** - Recruit, train, and supervise store staff and part-time student workers - Create work schedules and manage staff performance evaluations - Foster a positive work environment aligned with Institute's values - Conduct regular team meetings and provide ongoing coaching **Financial Management** - Manage daily cash reconciliation and banking procedures - Monitor sales performance against targets and prepare regular reports - Control operational expenses and optimize profit margins - Maintain accurate financial records and coordinate with finance department **Merchandise and Brand Management** - Assist in curating product selection that reflects IIM Ahmedabad's brand and quality standards - Work with suppliers and vendors to source new merchandise - Manage seasonal collections and limited edition items - Ensure all merchandise maintains appropriate quality and brand consistency Preferred candidate profile - Minimum 3-5 years of retail management experience - Previous experience in premium retail or institutional environments preferred - Experience managing teams of 3-8 people Education - Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, or related field - MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred Skills and Competencies - Strong leadership and people management skills - Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities - Proficiency in retail POS systems and inventory management software - Financial acumen with experience in P&L management - Customer service orientation with problem-solving capabilities - Attention to detail and organizational skills - Basic marketing and visual merchandising knowledge
