Role & responsibilities About the role: As an Accountant, you will be responsible for executing the bookkeeping function for a block of our clients. You will have a positive impact on all our clients by ensuring they have clean, accurate, up-to-date books and accounting records, and providing support that helps them thrive and prosper. This role is full-time and permanent. It is an in-office position. What Your Day to Day Will Look Like: Execute daily bookkeeping tasks such as: categorization of transactions publish data from Dext to SAGE/QBO/Xero reconciliation of bank and credit card accounts reconciliation of accounts receivable/accounts payable and all other balance sheet accounts Communicate with clients by e-mail, phone, and video meetings to obtain information and clarification regarding unknown transactions Respond promptly to client inquiries Ensure bank and credit card feeds are connected properly in online accounting software (SAGE, QuickBooks Online, Xero) Preparation of GST/HST returns Month-end close procedures Monitoring of shareholder loan accounts to ensure accuracy Payables processing Receivables processing (creating invoices, monitoring A/R) Onboarding new clients, including setting up SAGE/QBO/Xero/Dext/Plooto and creating new charts of accounts Preferred candidate profile What You Need to Succeed: 1+ years experience in a similar role at a small or medium-sized firm Strong professional client communication skills over email, phone, and video calls Demonstrated skill explaining complex accounting concepts to non-accountants Demonstrated responsiveness to client inquiries Demonstrated customer-service orientation and ability to handle difficult clients gracefully Able to maintain complete confidentiality between clients and employees Very strong attention to detail, are rigorous and thorough in your work and checking your work to ensure accuracy and completeness Demonstrated initiative to spot and resolve problems before they develop
