Role Overview Location : Gummidipoondi Industry : Plastic Recycling Industry We are seeking a seasoned and dynamic General Manager – HR to head the Human Resources function of our manufacturing organization. The role involves building a high-performance culture, ensuring statutory compliance, developing people-centric policies, and strengthening workforce engagement. The GM – HR will play a strategic role in legal compliance, manpower planning, labour contractor management, performance systems, employee training, and HR process automation . Key Responsibilities Strategic HR & Leadership Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with business growth and manufacturing operations. Drive cultural transformation, employee engagement, and retention initiatives. Partner with senior management to align HR practices with long-term organizational goals. Compliance & Legal Management Ensure 100% compliance with all labour laws, including Factories Act, ESI, PF, Bonus, Gratuity, and other statutory obligations. Liaise with labour authorities, statutory auditors, and Pollution Control Board for inspections, licensing, and approvals. Handle labour disputes, grievances, and conflict resolution effectively. Workforce & Labour Relations Manage labour contractors with strict adherence to legal requirements. Optimize manpower deployment and cost management . Ensure cordial industrial relations and a disciplined workplace environment. Performance & Productivity Management Establish and monitor KPI/KRA frameworks across all functions. Conduct regular KPI/KRA reviews to measure performance and drive accountability. Introduce and implement new systems/processes for productivity improvement . Support automation and digitization of HR processes to enhance efficiency. Employee Training & Development Design and roll out training programs for all levels of employees: Technical skills training for shop-floor workers. Leadership & behavioral training for managers. Compliance and safety training as per statutory norms. Implement continuous learning and upskilling programs to build internal talent pipelines. Employee Engagement & Team Building Organize team bonding initiatives, employee welfare programs, and recognition platforms . Foster a collaborative work environment with open communication channels. Drive initiatives to improve employee morale, reduce attrition, and enhance job satisfaction. Shift & Discipline Management Ensure effective work-shift time management and attendance tracking. Monitor workplace discipline, punctuality, and adherence to organizational policies . Strengthen time-office systems with clear SOPs and compliance. HR Operations & HRMS Implementation Oversee payroll, attendance, and leave management through HRMS. Ensure 100% HRMS compliance with accurate data reporting and record-keeping. Regularly audit HRMS entries for payroll accuracy, statutory deductions, and workforce analytics. Qualifications & Experience MBA/MSW in HR or related field. 15–20 years of HR experience , with at least 8–10 years in a senior role within the manufacturing sector . Expertise in labour law compliance, statutory audits, industrial relations, and manpower planning . Proven record of KPI/KRA system implementation and monitoring . Hands-on experience in HRMS, payroll, and digital HR systems . Strong leadership, negotiation, and people management skills. Key Competencies Strong business partnering and strategic outlook. About the Company We are a leading manufacturer of reprocessed plastic granules specializing in PP Copolymer (PPCP), PP Homopolymer (PPHP), HIPS, ABS, HDPE, and other engineering plastics . Our plant focuses on sustainable recycling, high-quality output, and process consistency using advanced extrusion and washing technologies. Role Overview The Head – Quality will lead the entire quality function across the plant — from raw material inspection to final product validation . The candidate will establish, implement, and monitor robust quality systems ensuring consistent product performance, compliance with customer specifications, and continuous improvement in production standards. Key Responsibilities 1. Quality Management System Establish and maintain quality assurance processes for all production stages — raw material, in-process, and finished goods. Implement ISO, QA/QC systems, and statistical quality control methods suitable for reprocessed materials. Develop and review Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for testing and inspection. 2. Technical & Process Quality Ensure strict control on melt flow index (MFI), tensile strength, impact, color matching, and contamination levels. Conduct regular polymer testing (MFI, ash content, density, DSC, FTIR, etc.). Ensure batch consistency for PPCP, PPHP, HIPS, ABS, and other reprocessed granules. Collaborate with production to minimize variations and reject rates through root cause analysis and process improvement. 3. Lab & Testing Management Manage quality lab operations, calibration of testing equipment, and maintain records. Guide lab team in testing methodologies and report analysis. Maintain traceability and batch documentation for every production lot. 4. Customer & Vendor Quality Handle customer quality complaints and implement corrective & preventive actions (CAPA). Ensure vendor quality standards for incoming raw materials and additives. Work with customers to meet technical specifications and continuous improvement targets. 5. Team Leadership & Development Lead and mentor the QA team, ensuring continuous training and performance improvement. Foster a culture of quality awareness across departments. 6. Compliance & Audits Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and quality regulations. Coordinate internal and external audits (ISO, customer audits). Key Skills & Competencies Strong understanding of polymer behavior, extrusion process, filtration, and pelletizing systems . Deep knowledge of PPCP, PPHP, HIPS, ABS, HDPE reprocessing and associated testing standards. Expertise in analytical instruments and polymer testing methods . Proven experience in reducing rejection rate, improving quality consistency , and process optimization . Excellent leadership, analytical, and communication skills. Preferred Background Worked in plastic granule reprocessing or compounding units. Exposure to quality assurance of recycled polymers . Experience in managing large-scale production environments with multiple product lines.
