Medical Coding Associate Job (Remote)

About the job:

Key responsibilities:

1. Perform a variety of activities involving the coding of medical records as a mechanism for indexing medical information, used for compiling statistics for hospital, regional, and government planning, and ensuring accurate hospital reimbursement. 2. Code inpatient and/or outpatient records and identify diagnoses and procedures daily according to the schedule set within the coding unit. 3. Accurately assign ICD-10 and/or CPT-4 codes in accordance with Coding Departmental guidelines, maintaining no less than 95% accuracy in code selection and sequencing. 4. Identify and abstract records consistently and accurately. 5. Demonstrate time awareness by meeting deadlines and minimizing non-essential interruptions. 6. Meet departmental productivity standards for coding and entering inpatient and/or outpatient records. 7. Participate in coding meetings and educational conferences to maintain coding skills and accuracy. 8. Demonstrate willingness and flexibility in working additional hours or adjusting working hours as needed. 9. Exhibit a thorough understanding of how the role impacts the department and hospital operations. 10. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with all members of the departmental and hospital staff. 11. Attend conference calls as necessary to provide updates or information related to coding. 12. Provide regular reports on coding quality metrics to leadership, highlighting trends, issues, and suggested improvements. 13. Conduct root cause analysis of coding errors to identify systemic issues and propose effective solutions.
