About Total Sports
Total Sports is building India’s home for sport: one app where athletes, coaches, academies, event organisers, fans and sponsors come together. Athletes build verified profiles and earn a Performance Score. Coaches use slow-motion video to analyse performance, academies manage training, and organisers run and live-stream events from a phone or an external camera. Brands and institutions back athletes, teams and events through our sponsorship marketplace.
The role
You’ll build and lead Total Sports’ institutional funding engine: corporate CSR, foundations, government and sports bodies, and grant-making institutions. While our Sponsorship team works with brands on marketing partnerships, you’ll secure long-term, impact-led funding for athlete development, para sports, rural talent programmes and grassroots events.
This is a strategic role that reports directly to the founder. You’ll shape the programmes, partnerships and reporting that make Total Sports a trusted channel for CSR and grant money in Indian sport.
What you’ll do
CSR fundraising
- Find, pitch and close multi-year CSR partnerships with corporates, PSUs and their foundations, aligned to Schedule VII of the Companies Act (promotion of rural, nationally recognised, Paralympic and Olympic sports).
- Design fundable programmes such as athlete scholarships, para-athlete support, rural talent hunts, women in sport, academy infrastructure and coach development, each with clear budgets, outcomes and timelines.
- Structure CSR partnerships through eligible implementing agencies (for example a Section 8 company, trust or NGO registered with the CSR-1 form), working with our legal and finance advisers.
Institutional partnerships
- Build relationships with sports federations and associations, state sports departments, universities, schools and academies.
- Align Total Sports programmes with government sports initiatives and talent-identification schemes, and explore co-funding and data partnerships.
- Partner with para-sports bodies and disability-focused organisations to expand opportunities for para athletes.
Grants and foundations
- Research and apply for grants from Indian and international foundations, development agencies and sports-for-development funders.
- Write strong proposals, concept notes, logical frameworks and budgets.
Impact, reporting and compliance
- Set up monitoring and evaluation using platform data: athletes supported, Performance Score progress, events held, live-stream reach and outcomes.
- Deliver clear impact reports, utilisation certificates and case stories to CSR and grant partners.
- Make sure funded programmes are run, documented and audited properly.
Leadership (Head level)
- Own the annual institutional fundraising target and pipeline.
- Build and lead a small partnerships team as we scale.
- Represent Total Sports at CSR forums, sports conferences and government consultations.
What you’ll bring
- 2–6 years in CSR partnerships, institutional fundraising, sports development, the development sector or government partnerships.
- A track record of closing CSR or grant funding, ideally multi-year and multi-crore.
- Working knowledge of CSR rules in India: Companies Act Section 135, Schedule VII, CSR-1 registration, implementing agencies and impact assessment.
- Relationships with CSR heads, foundations and sports or government bodies.
- Excellent proposal writing, budgeting and presentation skills.
- A real passion for sport and athlete welfare, especially grassroots and para sport.
- Fluent English and Hindi; other Indian languages are a plus.
Good to have
- Experience with sports federations, government sports programmes or a sports NGO.
- Exposure to international grant-makers and sport-for-development funders.
- Monitoring and evaluation experience with digital or data-led programmes.
- Experience setting up or working with a Section 8 company or trust for CSR.
