Laytime / Demurrage Analyst

As a skilled Laytime / Demurrage Analyst, you will be responsible for reviewing, negotiating, and settling demurrage claims for port calls while ensuring compliance with company policies. Your key responsibilities will include: - Reviewing and settling claims: Analyzing charter parties and commercial agreements to identify, negotiate, and settle claims. - Coordinating with stakeholders: Working with the operation team, trade team, port agents, vessel owners, and others to mitigate delays and reduce costs. - Calculating laytime: Using data from contracts, charter parties, and other documents to accurately calculate laytime. - Creating reports: Maintaining reports containing details such as time sheets, claimed amounts, and finalization dates. - Negotiating with counterparties: Engaging in negotiations with head owners, charterers, and brokers to ensure timely closure of laytime files. - Reviewing contract language: Optimizing contract language related to laytime and demurrage to enhance operational efficiency. - Identifying root causes: Capturing and reporting the root causes of demurrage to facilitate improvements in operational areas. Qualifications required for this role: - Minimum 3 years of experience in handling demurrage claims and laytime calculations in the bulk/tanker segment. - Good understanding of contracts, charter parties, laytime terminology, and ability to manage high transaction volumes.
