At AFRY we have a strong focus on diversity and inclusion. We are brave, devoted team players, collaborating across the world to accelerate the sustainable transition. If you are looking for a workplace where you will develop and at the same time contribute to something meaningful, you have found the right place.

Within the business area Planning and Design, we operate in various fields, including Planning, Landscape, Urban Development, Traffic, Mobility, Roads & Infrastructure, Railways, Water & Sewerage, Construction, Environment, Geotechnics, Rock Engineering, and Geohydrology. In other business areas, we also engage in activities related to Lighting, Architecture, and Environment.

Sustainability

Sustainability is an integral part of all AFRY’s operations, and we work to create a more sustainable society through technology. We have developed tools for sustainability analysis, including the Sustainability Reflection Tool, and climate calculation, the CO2-Guide. Our extensive experience allows us to conduct both sustainability analyses and climate calculations to identify effects, risks, opportunities, and what matters most for optimizing a project’s environmental and climate impact from a life cycle perspective.

About the team in Sweden

In Sweden we currently have 70 Landscape architects, landscape engineers and city planners grouped in sections called Urban planning & design at AFRY. They work closely together throughout the entire project process, from planning to design, project planning, and construction phases.

Within Urban planning & design, our focus is on design and sustainability, aiming to create innovative and sustainable design solutions that integrate aesthetically pleasing design with long-term environmental sustainability. By combining creative design with principles of sustainability, we strive to make a positive impact on society and future generations.

We collaborate on projects with both public and private clients. Our assignments range from dense urban environments, streets, parks, schools, playgrounds and housing developments to natural landscapes, covering new developments as well as existing sites. With expertise in both technical and aesthetic solutions, we cooperate with other technical disciplines as needed. We work with a wide scope of assignments ranging from the planning-stage to execution of detailed drawings for final production.

We work creatively in teams, fostering ideas and fresh perspectives alongside our colleagues from other technical fields. In general we work in 3-person teams assigned to different projects, our employees have a typical workload of 2-4 ongoing projects.

Your role, your entry point at AFRY

As a member of the team Urban planning and design at AFRY, you will have the opportunity to work on diverse and challenging projects in that will make a real impact. Through the Design Center you will collaborate with a team of highly skilled professionals in Sweden, use cutting-edge technology, and play a pivotal role in delivering innovative solutions for our clients.

International collaboration and team building

They key point of our setup with the designcenter is collaboration and team cohesion. The work assignment is not about traditional crossborder/offshoring solutions where you, for example, are being handed a task and work on this for a couple of weeks by your own. Our approach to the international staff is full immersion in the Swedish team. As such we except the same social commitment and a willingness to share and learn from each other as we do with any other staff. This is a somewhat challenging aspect that we will work on and develop together as we go along. There is however a framework in place to facilitate this social workflow.

As a member of the Noida designcenter you will be assigned a “buddy”. This is a collegue from the Swedish team which will help you during your first couple of months at Afry. The buddy will help you with practical things but also support you in our efforts to bring the team together.

Collaboration structure

  • Once a week we have a resource-meeting where we plan and discuss the week ahead. This is a get-togheter for the whole team since a number of staff works elsewhere.
  • once a week there is a buddy-meeting where you and your buddy discusses challenges, successes and general well-being.

-once a week there is a 1-2-1 with your manager. This is an informal meeting where you and your manager talk about workload, wellbeing and anything else that will help your progress.

Additional Information

We appreciate if you have

  • Experience of working abroad, especially projects in the Nordics
  • Knowledge of:
    • Rhinoceros
    • Grasshopper
    • Viz-engines such as Lumion, Enscape etc
  • Experience of large scale infrastructure projects

At AFRY, we engineer change in everything we do. Change happens when brave ideas come together. When we collaborate, innovate technology, and embrace challenging points of view. That’s how we're making future. We are actively looking for qualified candidates to join our inclusive and diverse teams across the globe. Join us in accelerating the transition towards a sustainable future.
