Lab Technician

As a Lab Technician, your primary responsibility will be to receive outpatient lab requests with paid bills, verify and approve them in the Laboratory Information System to generate lab department requests. It is essential to mention the lab test turnaround time in the bill for accurate processing. Running the samples with technical expertise and delivering lab test reports after verifying the patient bills will be part of your daily tasks. You will also be required to welcome patients with a pleasant smile and attend to them with courtesy. Handling telephone calls politely and following telephone manners diligently is crucial. Receiving reports of various blood samples (IPD/OPD) and reporting Histopathology, Haematology, Cytopathology reports, and all lab reports accurately are key aspects of this role. Maintaining department-wise records of tests, newly added tests, bills, or outsourcing labs, as well as managing the dispatch register and duplicate reports, will be part of your routine. Additionally, you will need to ensure the cleanliness of the lab premises, distribute linen in lab departments, and take care of washing, drying, and sterilizing glass wares for reuse in concerned departments. Your responsibilities will also include sterilizing culture media and decontaminating culture plates for the Microbiology department, assisting in department activities, maintaining biomedical waste management, documenting all internal quality control results, and reporting on all biochemistry samples. Ensuring timely dispatch of all reports, establishing, implementing, and maintaining internal quality control in the laboratory, and participating in EQAS for satisfactory results are vital aspects of this role. You will also be responsible for educating staff on proper waste disposal methods, monitoring waste disposal, maintaining and monitoring all equipment in the lab, and preserving all documents and records as per the standard procedures.
