JOB DESCRIPTION
Position: Lab Assistant (Physics, Chemistry, Biology & Mathematics – PCMB)
Location: G.D. Goenka Public School, Kolkata (Dumdum)
Department: Senior & Middle School
Salary: Based on experience & expertise

1. Role Overview

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Lab Assistant proficient in handling all PCMB laboratory operations as per CBSE curriculum requirements. The candidate must ensure smooth functioning of labs, assist teachers during practical sessions, maintain all equipment, and ensure safety standards.

2. Key Responsibilities

Laboratory Management

• Prepare laboratory setups, specimens, models, and apparatus for Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and basic Mathematics practical demonstrations.
• Ensure all practical materials are arranged as per the CBSE practical syllabus for classes VI–XII.
• Maintain proper records of chemicals, equipment, glassware, and laboratory stock.
• Assist in the procurement of required chemicals and lab materials.

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure all safety protocols are followed by students and staff during lab sessions.
• Maintain first-aid tools, chemical safety sheets, and proper waste disposal practices.
• Ensure regular inspection and repair/maintenance of laboratory instruments.

Support During Practical Sessions

• Assist subject teachers during experiments, demonstrations, and assessments.
• Guide students in using lab equipment responsibly.
• Set up and dismantle apparatus before and after classes.

Documentation & Inventory

• Maintain lab registers, stock ledgers, breakage records, and issue/return registers.
• Update monthly consumption reports of chemicals & apparatus.
• Ensure compliance with CBSE norms for laboratory audits and inspections.

3. Required Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum Graduate in Science (B.Sc preferred) – Physics/Chemistry/Biology/General Science.
• 3–5+ years of experience as a Lab Assistant in a CBSE school (preferred).
• Strong understanding of CBSE practical curriculum for Classes IX–XII.
• Hands-on experience in PCMB labs:
• Physics: circuits, optical instruments, measurements
• Chemistry: titrations, reagents, chemical handling
• Biology: specimens, slides, microscopes
• Mathematics: models & activity-based practicals
• Knowledge of lab safety norms and chemical handling.

4. Skills & Competencies

• Excellent organizational and documentation skills
• Practical knowledge of lab equipment handling
• Strong communication and coordination skills
• Ability to manage multiple lab sessions efficiently
• Awareness of safety, hygiene, and CBSE lab compliance

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
