Job Description

The school nurse is responsible for providing healthcare services to students and staff, promoting health education, and ensuring a healthy school environment.

The nurse will assess and treat minor injuries, manage chronic health conditions, and develop health plans for students with special needs. The role also involves promoting wellness through health education programs and collaborating with parents, teachers, and healthcare providers.

Key Responsibilities:

Health Services: Provide first aid and emergency care to students and staff. Manage chronic health conditions, such as asthma, diabetes, and allergies. Administer prescribed medications and monitor side effects. Conduct health screenings (e.g., vision, hearing, scoliosis) and refer for follow-up care if needed. Maintain accurate health records for students and staff.

Health Education: Educate students and staff on health topics, including hygiene, nutrition, mental health, and disease prevention. Develop and implement health promotion programs and activities. Provide resources and counseling on health-related issues.

Health Environment: Ensure the school environment is safe and healthy. Monitor and manage communicable diseases, including implementing control measures. Develop and implement individual health care plans (IHPs) and emergency care plans for students with specific health needs.

Collaboration: Work closely with parents, teachers, and healthcare providers to support student health. Participate in multidisciplinary teams, including special education teams, to address the health needs of students. Communicate effectively with parents regarding student health issues and concerns.

Administrative Duties: Maintain and update student health records, ensuring confidentiality. Prepare reports and maintain documentation in compliance with school policies and state regulations. Monitor and manage the school’s inventory of medical supplies and equipment. Participate in staff meetings, in-service training, and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹8,086.00 - ₹23,000.00 per month
