L2/L3 Protocol Testing

As a detail-oriented engineer in the Switching Software QA team, you will be responsible for the following key tasks: - Designing, developing, and executing comprehensive test plans for switching software features - Performing platform, functional, regression, and performance testing on switch products - Testing network protocols including STP, VLAN, LACP, QoS, and Layer 2/3 switching functionality - Creating and maintaining automated test scripts using Python and testing frameworks - Setting up and managing test environments with multiple switches, routers, and network configurations - Identifying, documenting, and tracking software defects using bug tracking systems - Collaborating with development teams to reproduce and resolve issues - Performing interoperability testing with third-party networking equipment - Participating in product release testing and validation activities - Contributing to QA process improvements and test automation initiatives Qualifications required for this role include: - Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communication, or related technical field - Strong understanding of computer networks, TCP/IP, and networking protocols - Programming skills in Python or TCL or willingness to learn quickly - Knowledge of Linux/Unix systems and command-line operations - Understanding of software testing methodologies and QA processes - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills - Excellent attention to detail and systematic approach to testing - Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively - Willingness to learn networking technologies and testing tools In addition to the required qualifications, the following qualifications are preferred: - Understanding of Ethernet switching, VLANs, and routing concepts - Experience with network simulation tools or packet analyzers (Wireshark) - Knowledge of test automation frameworks and tools - Familiarity with scripting languages (Bash, Perl, Python) - Understanding of Agile testing methodologies,
