Experience Required: 15 to 20 Years Location: Sindri, Dhanbad, Jharkhand Industry: Mining (Coal Open Cast Mines) Department: Mines Safety Manager Role & responsibilities Lead and manage the safety operations for open cast coal mining projects in compliance with statutory regulations and organizational safety policies. Ensure adherence to the Mines Act, Coal Mines Regulations, and DGMS (Directorate General of Mines Safety) guidelines. Conduct regular safety inspections, risk assessments, and audits across mining operations. Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses; prepare reports and recommend corrective actions. Organize and lead safety training programs, emergency drills, and toolbox talks for mine workers and staff. Develop and implement safety policies, SOPs, and safety management systems. Monitor and manage the usage and maintenance of PPE and safety equipment. Liaise with DGMS, local authorities, and other regulatory bodies for statutory compliance and reporting. Promote a culture of safety awareness and continuous improvement. Preferred candidate profile Those with hands-on experience in large-scale open cast coal mining operations. Proven track record in managing mine safety audits and compliance reporting. Candidates with experience in digital safety systems implementation will be an advantage. Qualifications: Degree/Diploma in Mining Engineering, Safety Engineering, or equivalent. Certification in Industrial Safety or HSE (recognized by DGMS or equivalent authority) is mandatory. Valid First Aid and Safety Officer certification (as per Mines Rules). Skills & Competencies: Deep knowledge of safety practices in open cast coal mining. Familiarity with DGMS regulations, Indian mining legislation, and occupational safety standards. Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills. Ability to manage and mentor safety teams in a high-risk environment.
