Job Description

Role Overview: You will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining high-performance, secure, and scalable microservices using Kotlin with the Ktor framework. You will develop and integrate RESTful APIs for enterprise-scale platforms and collaborate with architects, DevOps engineers, and product teams to ensure services meet functional performance and security requirements. Applying modern software engineering practices like TDD, CI/CD, and cloud-native deployment to deliver high-quality code will be a key part of your role. Additionally, you will mentor junior developers on Kotlin best practices in the backend. Key Responsibilities: - Design and implement backend services using Kotlin Ktor - Build well-structured, documented, and version-controlled APIs - Integrate with internal and external systems through secure API endpoints - Optimize microservices for low latency and high throughput - Implement authentication/authorization (OAuth2, JWT), API keys, and data validation - Ensure services are horizontally scalable and cloud-ready (AWS/GCP/Azure) - Work in an agile environment with cross-functional squads - Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and sprint planning - Pair with DevOps to containerize services and deploy via CI/CD pipelines - Write clean, maintainable, and testable code following SOLID principles - Implement automated unit, integration, and performance tests - Contribute to shared service templates and internal Kotlin libraries Qualifications Required: - 5 years of backend development experience with 3 years in Kotlin for server-side applications - Strong expertise in Ktor framework for building microservices - Solid understanding of RESTful API design, OpenAPI/Swagger, and API lifecycle management - Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, etc.) - Proficiency in building and consuming asynchronous services (Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar) - Strong grasp of cloud-native concepts, Docker, Kubernetes, and microservices patterns - Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, etc.) Additional Company Details: N/A,
