Journalist/Reporter

• Receives assignments and evaluates leads and tips to pitch original and timely news stories. Produces and delivers content for broadcast, web, and social media.
• Gathers and verifies factual information regarding news stories through interviews, observation, and research.
• Builds relationships with sources including public officials, administrators, researchers, organizers, public information officers, and other newsmakers.
• Organizes material, determines framing, and writes features, two-ways, spots, and cut-and-copies according to departmental editorial style and format standards.
• Records and edits field and in-studio audio, mixes and files pre-recorded broadcast-ready features, two-ways, and spots.
• Takes photographs or shoots video to illustrate stories. Creates digital and social media posts.
• Delivers live reports from the site of an event, mobile broadcast unit, or in-studio as appropriate.
• Participates in fundraising broadcasts and/or events.
• May host, produce, interview guests, and/or screen phone calls
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
