Senior Java / Automation Engineer (Dynamic Configuration & Cloud Deployments)
Experience Level: 6–10+ yearsLocation: Pan India VirtusaEmployment Type: Full-timeRole OverviewWe are looking for a Senior Java Engineer with expertise in automation, configurationmanagement, and basic cloud operations to join our engineering team.In this role, you will take full ownership of building Java applications driven by dynamicconfiguration, automating configuration deployments with Ansible, and ensuring theseapplications run reliably in cloud environments. You should be a self-starter who can pullcode from repositories, trigger and monitor CI/CD pipelines, debug deployment issues, andtrace exceptions directly on live instances.Key Responsibilities Java Development & Architecture: Design, build, and maintain core Javaapplications with a strong focus on runtime configurability and dynamic configurationhandling. Configuration Management: Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks and roles toautomate the delivery, verification, and updates of application configurations acrossenvironments. Pipeline Execution & Ownership: Take code from source control repositories,trigger CI/CD deployment pipelines, verify deployment health, and ensure builds aredeployed end-to-end. Cloud Operations & Debugging: Deploy applications to cloud environments (e.g.,AWS EC2), initiate sessions (SSH / Session Manager), inspect application/systemlogs, trace stack traces/exceptions, and remediate runtime issues. End-to-End Reliability: Validate that configurations are accurately applied and thatservices stay stable, secure, and operational post-deployment. Collaboration & Maintenance: Support occasional frontend integrations, interfacewith cross-functional teams, and document deployment workflows.Qualifications & RequirementsPrimary / Must-Have 8–10+ years of hands-on software development experience with core Java (Java8/11/17+), including design patterns, multithreading, and RESTful architectures. Proven experience building applications that rely on dynamic externalconfiguration management (e.g., dynamic properties, configuration servers,environment-based profiles). Solid, hands-on experience using Ansible for automation, configuration rollout, andserver provisioning. Proficiency with Git workflows (branching, merging, managing pull requests) andtriggering/monitoring CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions). Strong independent troubleshooting skills: comfortable working with Linux/Unixcommand-line tools to monitor processes, analyze logs, and resolve runtime issues.Secondary / Nice-to-Have Cloud Infrastructure (AWS preferred):o Basic hands-on familiarity with virtual servers (e.g., Amazon EC2).o Ability to open remote sessions (AWS Systems Manager Session Manager orSSH), verify instance status, check disk/memory usage, and troubleshootenvironment variables.o Experience locating system/application logs in cloud environments anddiagnosing exceptions or connection failures. Frontend: Basic familiarity with Vue.js or modern JavaScript frameworks (to assistwith minor UI updates or full-stack troubleshooting) is a plus.Core Competencies Self-Driven: High degree of autonomy; capable of taking a feature or deploymenttask from repository checkout through pipeline trigger to stable production run.
