Inerventional Cardiologist

An Interventional Cardiologist diagnoses and treats heart/vascular issues via minimally invasive, catheter-based procedures like angioplasty and stenting, working in cath labs to place devices, repair defects, and manage acute heart conditions, collaborating with teams, consulting patients, and requiring advanced fellowship training, board certification, and high-pressure skills. Key Responsibilities:

• Patient Evaluation: Assess cardiovascular health through tests (ECG, Echo, Angiogram) and patient history.
• Diagnostic Procedures: Perform cardiac catheterization to identify blockages or defects.
• Interventional Procedures: Execute angioplasty, stent placement, valve repairs, and device implantation.
• Treatment Planning: Develop comprehensive plans, often with multidisciplinary teams, including post-procedure care.
• Patient/Family Education: Counsel on disease prevention, management, and lifestyle changes.
• Emergency Response: Handle acute cardiac events like heart attacks with rapid, life-saving interventions.

• Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in navigating complex cardiovascular anatomy using catheters, guidewires, and imaging systems like fluoroscopy.

• Critical Decision-Making: The ability to make immediate, high-stakes judgments during emergencies or when procedural complications arise.
