Job Description

As a skilled Hydraulics Engineer, your role will involve overseeing the design, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of hydraulic systems in ships and marine vessels. Your expertise in marine hydraulic systems, including steering gears, winches, cranes, ballast systems, and other fluid power components will be crucial to vessel operations. - Develop and design hydraulic systems for ships, offshore structures, and marine equipment. - Select appropriate hydraulic components such as pumps, actuators, valves, and piping. - Work with ship designers and naval architects to integrate hydraulic systems efficiently. - Inspect, test, and diagnose faults in hydraulic systems onboard vessels. - Develop maintenance schedules to ensure optimal performance and prevent failures. - Conduct emergency repairs on hydraulic components such as steering gears, stabilizers, cranes, and anchor handling systems. - Supervise the installation of hydraulic systems on new and existing vessels. - Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations. - Perform system testing and commissioning before vessel operations. - Ensure all hydraulic systems comply with maritime safety standards (IMO, SOLAS, Class Societies). - Maintain technical records, maintenance logs, and service reports. - Prepare engineering documentation, hydraulic schematics, and system diagrams. - Evaluate and implement new hydraulic technologies to improve system efficiency and reliability. - Work with manufacturers and suppliers to source innovative hydraulic solutions. - Optimize hydraulic systems for energy efficiency and environmental compliance. Qualifications & Skills: - Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a related field. - Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in hydraulic systems, preferably in the maritime or offshore industry. - Technical Skills: Expertise in hydraulic circuit design, troubleshooting, and system integration. Familiarity with shipboard hydraulic equipment (winches, cranes, stabilizers, rudder systems). Proficiency in hydraulic software and CAD tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar). - Certifications: Marine Hydraulic Training (Preferred), Knowledge of Classification Society Rules (ABS, DNV, Lloyds Register) - Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities. Ability to work in offshore and shipyard environments. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Your work environment will primarily involve shipyards, onboard vessels, or offshore platforms. It may involve travel for inspections, installations, and repairs, and you will be engaged in hands-on work in mechanical and hydraulic systems.
