SUMMARY
Role Summary
The Forward Deployed Engineer serves as a hands-on, full-stack developer embedded within client sites to deploy, customize, and expand our technology platforms, with a specialized emphasis on Brain and comparable AI-centric initiatives. This position involves developing production-grade code, interfacing with intricate and established enterprise systems, rejuvenating outdated applications, and constructing comprehensive superapps anchored by a Dockerized microservices architecture. Distinct from a consulting or support function, this role demands full accountability for results, spanning from diagnosing client business challenges to delivering functional software and channeling field intelligence back into the core product strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Deployment and Integration: Develop and launch production-ready integrations, microservices, ETL pipelines, and API adapters that seamlessly embed our platform into client ecosystems, encompassing ERPs, CRMs, legacy databases, and message brokers.
- AI Solution Development: Engineer LLM-driven features for Brain-related projects, establishing RAG pipelines, agentic workflows, and evaluation frameworks that validate accuracy for stakeholders.
- Legacy Modernization: Refactor, rewrite, or restructure aging applications into maintainable, cloud-native architectures while ensuring zero disruption to live operations.
- Superapp Architecture: Design unified applications featuring single-sign-on capabilities that consolidate multiple business modules onto a shared Dockerized microservices foundation.
- Operational Ownership: Manage post-deployment monitoring, troubleshooting, and support, including incident response and root-cause analysis.
- Business Partnership: Conduct discovery sessions with operational and executive leaders to translate workflow inefficiencies into precise technical specifications and drive user adoption.
- Product Feedback Loop: Convert recurring field patterns into reusable engineering components and actionable tickets for the core product development team.
Requirements - Engineering Experience: 3-6+ years of professional backend or full-stack development using Python, Go, Node.js/TypeScript, or Java.
- API Proficiency: Strong capabilities in REST and/or GraphQL, webhooks, and asynchronous messaging systems such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
- Database Expertise: Solid command of both relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB), including schema design and advanced SQL usage.
- Cloud and Containers: Proven experience building and operating Dockerized microservices in production environments, utilizing Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and at least one major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- System Architecture: Understanding of inter-service communication, API gateways, retry mechanisms, idempotency, and API versioning.
- Modernization Track Record: Demonstrated success in modernizing legacy applications in production, including the ability to reverse-engineer undocumented code and data flows while safeguarding existing behaviors through testing.
- AI and LLM Skills: Hands-on experience developing features using LLM APIs, covering prompt engineering, structured outputs, and tool/function calling. Familiarity with RAG concepts, including embeddings, chunking, and vector search (e.g., pgvector, Pinecone).
- Enterprise Integration: Experience connecting with enterprise systems like ERPs, CRMs, and legacy databases, alongside knowledge of security protocols including OAuth2, SAML/SSO, role-based access control, VPC networking, and secure secret management.
- Communication: Ability to articulate technical trade-offs to non-technical executives and produce clear, rigorous engineering documentation and design notes.
