JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Veterinarian SPF Breeding Location: Hyderabad | Telangana Job Summary We are seeking a qualified and motivated veterinarian to support the health, welfare, and breeding of SPF laboratory animal colonies. This entry-level role is ideal for freshers, with preference for candidates familiar with colony management, health/genetic monitoring, and GLP compliance. The role involves hands-on learning, documentation, and coordination with scientific, operations, and sales teams, ensuring adherence to national and international standards. Key Responsibilities ¢ Design and supervise breeding strategies to support continuous and high-quality production of SPF rodents and rabbits, maintaining colony size, productivity, and strain integrity. Monitor reproductive health, manage mating rotations, track weaning and litter data, and optimize breeding performance using documented metrics. Health monitoring procedures in alignment with the defined pathogen list. This includes sentinel sample collection (e.g., blood, feces, swabs, tissues), proper sample documentation, and coordination for dispatch to designated reference laboratories. ¢ ¢ ¢ ¢ Genetic monitoring programs by coordinating sample collection (e.g., ear punches, tail biopsies) and verification of genotyping reports to ensure colony genetic stability. Enforce barrier practices, facility hygiene protocols, and personnel entry procedures to preserve SPF status and mitigate cross-contamination risks. Maintain complete, traceable records for health monitoring, breeding logs, and compliance documents, in line with GLP, AAALAC, and CCSEA standards. Coordinate with sales, planning, and logistics teams to align production with customer demands. Review order forecasts, oversee pre-dispatch health certification, and ensure accurate animal identification and documentation. ¢ ¢ ¢ Provide training and supervision to animal care staff on barrier handling techniques, health assessments, humane interventions, and SOP compliance. Assist in the introduction of new strains or genetically modified lines by implementing quarantine, rederivation, or health status screening procedures.
