Job Title: Research Scientist- Organic Synthesis & Natural Extraction Company: Gait Naurish (I) Ltd. Location: R&D Centre, Sector 155, Noida (NCR), India Employment Type: Full-time, On-site Reporting To: Head- R&D (Food Chemicals) 1. Role Overview Gait Naurish (I) Ltd. seeks a hands-on Research Scientist to develop new food-grade favour chemicals and bio-based extracts. You will combine deep expertise in organic synthesis with practical know-how in natural-product extraction, driving projects from lab bench through pilot scale and tech-transfer to manufacturing. 2. Key Responsibilities & Tasks Design & Execution of Synthetic Routes (50%) Responsible for designing and executing synthetic routes for flavour molecules, sweeteners, and aroma compounds. Tasks include patent and literature scouting, route selection and DoE (Design of Experiments), performing lab-scale reactions (ranging from 5 g to 1 kg), and purification through distillation, column chromatography, and crystallization. Natural Extraction & Isolation of Bio-actives (30%) Work involves extraction and isolation of bio-active compounds such as citrus flavonoids and essential oil fractions using solvent extraction, supercritical CO, and enzyme-assisted techniques. The goal is to optimize yield, selectivity, and color, while also generating data for scale-up and solvent recovery balance. Documentation & Compliance (15%) Responsible for drafting SOPs, batch records, and risk assessments. Ensure compliance with regulatory standards such as FSSAI, FAMI-QS, REACH, and ISO 9001. Cross-functional Collaboration & Mentoring (5%) Coordinate with Production, Quality Control, and Marketing teams. Also involves training and mentoring junior chemists and interns. Time allocations are indicative and may shift with project priorities. 3. Required Qualifications Education B.Sc. Chemistry (Honours) and M.Sc. Organic / Applied / Industrial Chemistry. Experience 1-3 years of hands-on R&D in both synthetic organic chemistry and natural-product extraction (food, flavour, fragrance, nutraceutical, or ne-chemical sectors). Technical Competence Proficiency with Grignard, esterification, oxidation/reduction, enzymatic conversions, etc. Familiarity with pilot reactors (5-50 L), rotary evaporation, short-path distillation, chromatography. Ability to analyze and interpret spectral data (NMR, MS, IR) for structure confirmation. Working knowledge of Design of Experiments (DoE) and scale-up economics. 4. Desired Skills & Attributes Creative problem-solver focused on yield, purity, and cost optimization. Meticulous lab-notebook practice and data-integrity mindset. Ability to read and interpret patents (Google Patents, SciFinder, Reaxys). Clear written & verbal communication; able to present findings to non-chemists. Team-oriented and comfortable in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. 5. Compensation & Benefits Salary Band: Rs. 5 -10 LPA (commensurate with experience). Annual performance bonus up to 15 %.
