Full Stack Engineer
About the Role
We are looking for a hands-on Full Stack Engineer with strong Node.js expertise to design and build scalable, secure applications on a microservices architecture. The role involves end-to-end ownership — from API and service design through front-end delivery — with a significant focus on building and maintaining data pipelines that power downstream analytics, reporting, and integrations.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Node.js (Express/NestJS/Fastify) within a microservices architecture.
- Build responsive, performant front-end applications using modern JavaScript frameworks (React preferred).
- Architect, implement, and operate data pipelines — batch and streaming — for ingestion, transformation, validation, and delivery of data across systems.
- Design RESTful and event-driven APIs; define service contracts and inter-service communication patterns (REST, message queues, pub/sub).
- Own database design and optimization across relational (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB/Redis) stores.
- Containerize services (Docker) and work with orchestration platforms (Kubernetes) for deployment and scaling.
- Implement CI/CD pipelines, automated testing (unit, integration, contract), and code quality gates.
- Instrument services with logging, metrics, and tracing (ELK, Prometheus/Grafana, or equivalent) for observability.
- Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and technical design documentation.
- Collaborate with product, QA, and DevOps teams in an Agile delivery environment.
Required Skills & Experience
- 3–5 years of professional full stack development experience.
- Node.js (must-have): deep proficiency in asynchronous programming, event loop internals, performance tuning, and at least one major framework (Express, NestJS, or Fastify).
- Microservices: proven experience designing, building, and operating services in a distributed architecture — service decomposition, API gateways, inter-service messaging (Kafka/RabbitMQ/SQS), resilience patterns (circuit breakers, retries, idempotency).
- Data pipelines: hands-on experience building ETL/ELT or streaming pipelines — data ingestion, transformation, scheduling/orchestration (Airflow, Temporal, or custom workers), and handling data quality, retries, and failure recovery at scale.
- Strong front-end skills: React (or Angular/Vue), TypeScript, state management, REST/GraphQL integration.
- SQL proficiency and experience with schema design, indexing, and query optimization.
- Working knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes fundamentals.
- Familiarity with Git-based workflows and CI/CD tooling (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions).
- Solid grounding in security best practices: authentication/authorization (OAuth2, JWT), input validation, secrets management.
Good to Have
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure) — managed Kubernetes (EKS/GKE), managed queues, object storage.
- Exposure to stream processing (Kafka Streams, Flink) or CDC tooling (Debezium).
- Experience in BFSI, GovTech, or other regulated domains with compliance-driven engineering (audit logging, data residency, encryption at rest/in transit).
- Familiarity with API management platforms (Apigee, Kong) and mTLS/JWE/JWS patterns.
- Infrastructure-as-code exposure (Terraform, Helm).
Qualifications
- B.E./B.Tech/M.Tech in Computer Science, IT, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
What Success Looks Like (First 6 Months)
- Independently delivering production-grade microservices with test coverage and observability built in.
- At least one data pipeline designed and operating reliably in production with monitoring and alerting.
- Contributing to architecture decisions and mentoring junior developers on code quality.
