Job Title Operations Executive – Banana Warehouse & Ripening Facility Reporting To Operations Manager Job Purpose To manage end-to-end warehouse floor operations for bananas harvested directly from farms, including arrival from farms, unloading, cold storage, ripening, and dispatch to modern trade and general trade, while ensuring quality control, traceability, and accurate records. Key Responsibilities 1) Farm-Level Inbound Operations Coordinate daily arrival of freshly harvested bananas from farms. Verify harvest date, farm source, variety (G9, Yelakki, Red Banana, Nendran, etc.), and quantity. Supervise careful unloading to avoid mechanical damage to fresh produce. Ensure proper batch-wise identification and traceability from farm to dispatch. Identify and record field-level defects, transit damage, and rejections. 2. Quality Assessment at Arrival Conduct initial quality inspection of farm-fresh bananas (maturity, finger size, blemishes). Segregate export-grade, domestic-grade, and rejected stock as per standards. Record farm-wise and batch-wise rejections and communicate feedback to procurement/farm team. 3. Cold Storage & Stock Management Plan immediate movement from unloading bay to cold storage to maintain freshness. Ensure correct temperature, humidity, and stacking practices for each banana variety. Follow FIFO/FEFO based on harvest date. Monitor stock levels and ageing daily. 4. Ripening Operations: Plan ripening chamber loading strictly based on harvest date and dispatch schedule. Supervise ripening chamber operations: Loading & unloading Ripening cycle control Uniform ripening across batches Maintain chamber-wise, batch-wise ripening records. 5. Dispatch Operations Coordinate dispatches to: Modern Trade General Trade Institutional buyers Ensure dispatch of bananas at required ripeness stage and quality. Supervise loading to prevent handling damage. Ensure farm traceability details are linked to dispatch documents. 6. Documentation & Record Keeping Maintain daily records of: Farm-wise arrivals Batch-wise stock movement Cold storage and ripening logs Dispatches and rejections Update ERP / Excel / manual registers accurately. Support reconciliation with sales and accounts teams. 7. Hygiene, Safety & ComplianceEnsure compliance with FSSAI and food safety norms. Maintain cleanliness and hygiene across: Unloading area Cold storage Ripening chambers Enforce safety practices on the warehouse floor. 8. Manpower & Floor ControlManage loaders, helpers, and contract labor. Allocate manpower for unloading, stacking, chamber loading, and dispatch. Maintain discipline and productivity on the floor. 9. Coordination & ReportingCoordinate closely with: Farm procurement & harvest teams Sales & planning teams Transporters and drivers Provide daily operational and stock reports to management. Build and manage direct farmer networks and FPOs in Mysuru, Mettur, Trichy, and surrounding regions. Plan procurement volumes aligned with modern trade, quick commerce, B2B, B2C, and export demand. Negotiate pricing, contracts, and seasonal supply commitments. Set up New Collection centers. 2. Yelakki & Regional Expertise (Critical) Strong hands-on experience in Yelakki banana procurement from the Mysuru belt. Practical knowledge of harvest stage, bunch maturity, finger size, peel quality, and shelf-life management. Understanding of regional variations in G9 quality from Karnataka, Andhra and Tamil Nādu. 3. Modern Trade & Quick Commerce Quality Management Deep awareness of Modern Trade (MT) and Quick Commerce (QC) retailer quality standards such as: Size uniformity, colour index, finger count, and cosmetic appearance Residue compliance, cleanliness, and packing standards Tight rejection tolerances and audit requirements Ensure procurement and grading meet QC turnaround timelines (same-day/next-day dispatch). Reduce rejections and penalties from MT & QC partners through right harvest and grading decisions. 4. Quality Control & Post-Harvest Operations Oversee harvesting, de-handing, grading, packing, transport, cold storage, and ripening operations. Coordinate with ripening chambers to meet retailer-specific ripeness windows. Implement SOPs to minimize post-harvest losses and quality degradation. Support export-grade sourcing where required. 5. Team Hiring & Manpower Management Recruit and manage line supervisors, procurement executives, and field staff. Organize and handle labour teams, including migrant labour (e.g., Bengal teams). Ensure productivity, attendance, safety, and local compliance. 6. Coordination with Sales, Ops & Export Teams Align daily procurement with sales forecasts and dispatch plans. Work closely with modern trade category teams, quick commerce planners, and export coordinators. Support new retailer onboarding and quality trials. 7. Reporting & Compliance Maintain daily procurement MIS: arrivals, dispatches, rejections, wastage, pricing, and margins. Track supplier and farmer performance. Ensure compliance with FSSAI, retailer audits, and internal SOPs.
