Freelance Video Editor + VFX capabilities

I’m looking for a talented freelance video editor who’s not just good with cuts and polish, but also knows how to bring videos to life with real visual effects. Most of the projects are long-form YouTube videos (20–30 minutes) plus short-form reels for social. This will be content made for kids and children.

This isn’t just about flashy AI graphics or 3D renderings—I need someone who can actually take real video footage and add effects on top of it. For example, if the floor is supposed to look like “lava,” I want you to overlay lava visuals on the real scene and make it look like part of the video—not a separate animation.

What you’ll be doing

• Editing long-form YouTube content and pulling out short reels
• Adding real-time captions that highlight each spoken word
• Seamlessly switching between multiple camera angles and POV shots
• Doing the final touches—color correction, audio balancing, polish
• Creating on-screen effects like:
• Simulated environments (water, fire, lava overlaid on real footage)
• Interactive elements (mazes, arrows, lines, circling objects, etc.)
• Animated highlights for teaching moments or callouts

What we’re looking for

• Solid experience in video editing with strong VFX/post-production skills
• Hands-on ability to overlay effects into live video (not just AI/3D renderings)
• Comfort with motion graphics, compositing, and advanced editing tools
• A portfolio or work samples that clearly show your VFX and editing skills

Pay & Structure

• Starting at $20/hour (flexible based on skill and location)
• Open to project-based rates if that works better for you
